Film Titles, Music Videos, Shorts

On 19 May 2025, Dutch filmmaker Edwin Brienen approached me and asked, “Michael, I am helping out Homer from The Residents, making a video for them to promote their new album, would you like to do some title design for this?”

Doing title design for one of my most beloved bands? For sure, no question.

Lache, Burg im Nil

(first book – German language)

Bulgrin presents a collection of bizarre and ludicrous texts accompanied by numerous illustrations from various phases of his life – some reworked, some continued, some created from scratch.

The collection includes manipulated engravipngs accompanied by ‘ultra-short stories’; poems written in the tradition of Dadaism and Surrealism; a Kafkaesque short story that explores the dark and often grotesque nature of human existence and, finally, a screenplay for a short film set somewhere between the worlds of Buñuel and Lynch.

Unreleased book project “Der will nur spielen”

... Fighting dogs as a reflection of our society.

Man's best friend, the dog, plays a role, whether decisive or incidental. In the guise of the fighting dog, it is usually the number one source of antipathy.

‘He just wants to play’ offers an ironic and sarcastic perspective on the relationship between humans and their environment, projected onto the fighting dog, especially its behaviour in self-isolation. These are not individual problems, but rather problems that affect society as a whole. However, sometimes a degree of seriousness is reached that forces humans and dogs to act in strange ways and obscures the view of what is essential.

The title of the book caricatures the neglect of the individual's relationship with their environment and ultimately that between humans. But it is also a symbol of individual ignorance and egocentric behaviour. The book is definitely intended to provoke a ‘chuckle’.
